Pupils of the school camp visited the Church of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious in Zabolotyetranslated

Spiritual education and familiarization with Orthodox traditions have become an important part of the summer recreation program for pupils of a school camp in the agricultural town of Zabolotye, Smolevichi district. The other day the children visited the local church of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious, where an excursion was organized for them.
The young guests were warmly greeted by the rector of the parish, Priest Georgy Kabushev. During the conversation, the priest told the children about the structure of the Orthodox church, its significance in the life of a Christian and the meaning of the Church Sacraments. The priest paid special attention to the questions that most often arise in children when visiting church: why we light candles, what is the meaning of icons, and how to correctly address God in prayer. The priest explained that the temple is a place of the special presence of God, where every person can find peace of mind and support.
The children listened with great interest to the abbot’s story and asked their own questions. Such meetings help the younger generation not only learn more about the history and culture of their native land, but also take the first steps towards understanding the spiritual foundations of life.
