Sunday school in Solgon village held lessons about faith and culturetranslated

On September 24, a day of classes was held at the Sunday school at the Church of the Holy Trinity in the village of Solgon, bringing together schoolchildren and kindergarten students. The meetings were timed to coincide with the teaching of the module “Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture.”
For 4th grade students of the Solgon secondary school, the rector of the church, Priest Georgy Tymkiv, conducted a lesson “How Christianity came to Rus'.” The priest told the fourth-graders about the choice of Prince Vladimir, about how more than a thousand years ago our ancestors acquired a single faith, writing and cultural code. Particular attention was paid to the emergence of the Slavic alphabet - the Cyrillic alphabet - and the influence that Orthodoxy had on architecture, painting and literature. At the end of the conversation, the schoolchildren were able to ask the priest questions.
On this day, pupils of the preparatory group of the Solgon kindergarten got acquainted with biblical history. The director of the Sunday school, Larisa Goncharova, conducted a lesson for them “God the Creator of the World”, introducing the kids to the story of the book of Genesis. Then the preschoolers had their first tour of the Trinity Church: the children looked at the icons and decorations, and also talked with the priest.
