In the St. Simeon Cathedral, the memory of the Chelyabinsk philanthropist and church builder of the 19th century Pyotr Ilyin was honored. Hieromonk Joseph (Reutov) performed a litiya at the memorial cross on the territory of the cathedral. Parishioners of the Simeonovsky Cathedral and other churches in Chelyabinsk gathered to pray for the repose of Peter Ivanovich. Pyotr Ilyinykh was one of the main builders and benefactors of the Simeon Church in 1873–1883. He is also known as the builder of the St. Nicholas Church on the monastery grounds of the Odigitrievsky convent. After the litany, a meeting dedicated to the memory of Peter Ilyin and other church benefactors of Chelyabinsk took place at the Museum of the History of Orthodoxy in the Southern Urals.
