At the ROC, an explanation was given regarding church attendance during menstruationtranslated

Priest Victor Nikishov explained whether a woman can visit the church during menstruation and what restrictions apply during this period. In an interview with the publication "Foma," he referred to the position of the Russian Orthodox Church, established at the February 2015 Synod. The reason for the explanation was a question from a believing woman who had encountered different opinions on this topic.

Nikishov reminded that in the document "On the Participation of Faithful in the Eucharist," it is stated that participation in the Eucharist is prohibited during the state of female uncleanness. Exceptions are allowed in cases of imminent danger, as well as during prolonged bleeding associated with chronic or acute illness. Thus, the established restriction applies only to participation in the Eucharist.
At the same time, women are allowed to visit the church, light candles, venerate icons and relics, drink blessed water, and partake of the prosphora during this period. The priest emphasized that the prohibition on being present in the church is not part of general church prescriptions. A more stringent approach is maintained only as a separate tradition.
