On September 8, 2026, on the feast of the Presentation of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God (the celebration was established in memory of the salvation of Moscow from the invasion of Tamerlane in 1395), His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. Upon arrival at the church, His Holiness venerated the miraculous Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, the reliquary with a piece of the right hand of the Blessed Grand Duke Demetrius Donskoy and the honorable relics of St. Philaret of Moscow. During the service, Archimandrite Jonah (Cherkasov) was consecrated as Bishop of Skopinsky and Shatsky. The newly ordained hierarch, elected to episcopal service by decision of the Holy Synod of July 16, 2026 (magazine No. 52), became the ruling bishop of the Skopino diocese (Ryazan Metropolis).
