A historical and cultural digest “Resurrection Church in History and Persons” took place in Oshmyanytranslated

In September, Oshmyany celebrated its 685th anniversary. Large-scale events have passed, but the history of the city attracts attention at different times. The event, held in the regional cultural center - the historical and cultural digest “Oshmyany Resurrection Church: in history and faces” - was timed to coincide with the 685th anniversary of the city and dedicated to the history of the Resurrection Church.

Guests of the event learned about important historical milestones in the life of the Ashmyany Resurrection Church, about the clergy-rectors who served here since its foundation, as well as about historical figures whose fate was connected with this holy place.

The event took place in the form of a digest - the most important and interesting facts and materials concerning the history of the Ashmyany shrine were presented on slides and heard from the hosts Sergei Zhilik and Svetlana Ganusevich.

Those present in the hall were told that on the site where the Orthodox church stands today, since the 17th century there had been a Dominican monastery and church, which were liquidated in 1850. Since the 1840s, a small church in the name of the Feast of the Epiphany operated in Oshmyany, which was located on Poperechnaya Street (now Komsomolskaya Street). Due to her small...
