V předvečer oslav narození ctihodného, slavného proroka, předchůdce a křtitele Pána Jana slavil metropolita Alexij z Čeljabinsku a Miass celonoční bdění s lithiem v katedrále sv. Simeona.

Vládnoucího biskupa spoluobsluhovali duchovenstvo katedrály v čele s duchovním arciknězem Vladimirem Manichevem.

Pro farnost katedrály svatého Simeona je svátek patronátní: křestní chrám na jejím území je vysvěcen na počest Jana Křtitele.

Duchovní přečetli akatist čestnému, slavnému Prorokovi, Předchůdci a Baptistovi Pána Jana.

Během bohoslužby byl přečten úryvek z Lukášova evangelia (Lk 1,24-25, 57-68, 76, 80), který vypráví, jak se podle předpovědi archanděla Gabriela narodí manželce velekněze Zachariáše Alžbětě syn Jan. Zachariáš, naplněný Duchem svatým, říká, že děťátko bude nazýváno prorokem Nejvyššího, neboť přijde před tvář Páně, aby připravilo Jeho cesty.

Během čtení kánonu biskup Alexy pomazal farníky požehnaným olejem.

Thanks for the report. The Gospel reading from Luke always hits different on this feast — hearing how Zachariah finally gets his voice back and calls his son the prophet of the Most High. Glad they read the akathist and that the bishop anointed everyone during the canon. Our parish should do something like that next year for our own patronal feast.
