On October 7, 2026, on the eve of the Feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a meeting was held with students of the Ostrov Secondary School.
The event was attended by the rector of the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov in the Ostrovsky farm, Priest Roman Filippov, and the ataman of the Ostrovsky farm Cossack society, Alexey Sergeevich Bandovkin.
The conversation brought together students from 4th, 6th and 10th grades. Priest Roman told the schoolchildren about the history of the Feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos and its spiritual significance, and also talked with the children about the role of faith in human life.
Ataman Alexey Sergeevich introduced students to one of the significant pages in the history of the Don Cossacks - the Azov siege of 1641. He paid special attention to the legends about the help of the Most Holy Theotokos to the Cossacks during the siege of Azov.
The schoolchildren listened with interest to the guests' speeches and asked questions.
Such educational meetings are held at school on a regular basis and are aimed at the spiritual and moral education of the younger generation, preserving historical memory and strengthening interaction between the Church, the Cossacks and educational institutions.
