Special prayer services will be held in the churches of the Tara diocese in Septembertranslated

On September 6, 2026, after the Divine Liturgy (tomorrow) in the churches of the Tara diocese, a prayer service will be performed for the preservation of God’s creation. This traditional annual prayer service will be served in all dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'.
Human activity in the 20th century created a number of very serious environmental problems, so issues of maintaining a careful and conscientious attitude towards the environment occupy an important place in the preaching of the Russian Orthodox Church and other local Churches. At the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries, a number of church documents were adopted expressing the position of the Orthodox Church on environmental issues. In particular, the environmental topic is especially covered in the “Message of the Primates of the Orthodox Churches,” the text of which was published in 2008. This topic is addressed in “Fundamentals of the social concept of the Russian Orthodox Church”, “Fundamentals of the teaching of the Russian Orthodox Church on dignity, freedom and human rights.”
