On the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow: prayer and remembrance for the fallentranslated

On June 22, the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, a mourning event was held at the memorial to those who fell during the Great Patriotic War in the city of Novaya Lyalya. The rector of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in the city of Novaya Lyalya, Priest Nikolai Melekhin, took part in the memorial event.

Together with city residents, administration officials, veterans and youth, the priest laid flowers at the foot of the memorial. This gesture became a sign of deep gratitude and eternal memory to those who gave their lives for their Motherland.

In his speech, the rector emphasized that the feat of the defenders of the Fatherland is not just a page of history, but an important moral guideline for new generations. Father Nikolai reminded of the need to carefully preserve historical truth, honor family memory and pass it on to children and grandchildren.

Speaking about grief, the priest noted its special Christian meaning: grief is not devoid of light, because the memory of the dead is warmed by prayer, and gratitude is expressed in acts of mercy and care for others.

According to tradition, the event ended with words of gratitude to everyone who brought Victory closer and a minute of silence. For many present, this minute became a time of personal memories - photos of relatives, letters from...
