The troparion, kontakion and prayer to the jurists-new martyrs were approvedtranslated

The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church approved for general church liturgical use the troparion, kontakion and prayer to the jurists-new martyrs - the Venerable Martyr Sergius (Shein) and the martyrs Yuri Novitsky and John Kovsharov.

The decision on this, based on the report of the chairman of the Synodal Liturgical Commission, Metropolitan Ambrose of Tver and Kashin, was made at a meeting of the Synod on October 22, 2026 (journal No. 81).

Let us recall that Petrograd lawyers, members of the board of the Society of Orthodox Parishes of Petrograd and the province Archimandrite Sergius (Shein), laymen Yuri Novitsky and Ioann Kovsharov were shot in 1922 in a case fabricated by the Bolsheviks for resisting the seizure of church valuables, together with Metropolitan Veniamin of Petrograd and Gdov. All of them were canonized in 1992.
