Pupils of the Cossack classes of school No. 2 Elista visited the Kazan Cathedral | Elista and Kalmyk diocesetranslated

On September 18, 2026, a lecture-excursion was held at the Kazan Cathedral in the city of Elista for students of the MBOU “Secondary School No. 2” in the city of Elista. The event, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Appearance of Christ the Savior in Elista, was held by the cleric of the Kazan Cathedral, Archpriest Yuri Kotinov. Students of the 4th “B” grade (class teacher Tatyana Kimovna Agievich) and 5th “B” grade (teacher Larisa Alekseevna Panfilova) of Cossack orientation visited the Kazan Cathedral and the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross. Young Cossacks were told about the “Elista miracle” - the Appearance of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross in the city of Elista on September 11, 1946, about the history of this event, its significance, as well as the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Appearance of Christ the Savior in the Republic of Kalmykia. The students saw a wooden cross placed in the hand of Semyon Bondarenko, a witness of the Appearance of Christ in Elista, during his burial in 1959. After the reburial of Semyon Bondarenko on August 18, 2026, the cross became myrrh-streamed.
