Third-graders from Shuya learned about the Feast of the Intercession of the Virgin Mary at an educational meeting in the churchtranslated

Pupils of the third grade of the first school in the city of Shuya (Ivanovo region) visited the Church of the Archangel Michael in Gavrilov Posad on the eve of the Feast of the Intercession of the Mother of God. A visit to the parish became not only an opportunity to see the church from the inside, but also to touch the meaning of the upcoming important church celebration.

The dean of the churches of Gavrilovo Posad district, priest Alexey Probichev, told the children about the history of the Feast of the Intercession. As reported by the public of the Shuya diocese, the guys asked many questions about how the Intercession could cover everyone, why it is not depicted so large in the icon, whether it is possible to forgive the Mother of God “so that she would cover me.” For many schoolchildren, this was their first independent visit to the church and communication with the priest.

Then the tour continued in the Sunday school premises. Here the children not only watched a short video about the holiday of the Intercession, but also, under the guidance of masters from the Center for Russian Folk Art, made a holiday card. The work combined elements of folk style and simple Christian symbols: the silhouette of a church, a light pattern and the image of the Intercession of the Virgin Mary.
