Visit of YMATH Kostas Giulekas to the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Tiranatranslated

The Cathedral of Tirana was visited by the Deputy Minister of Interior (Macedonia and Thrace), Kostas Giulekas, together with businessmen, academics and representatives of the three Regions of Northern Greece who participated in the Greek-Albanian Forum for the promotion of bilateral cooperation.
Mr. Giulekas was guided to the Church, the Chapel, the tomb of the blessed Archbishop Anastasios and the underground amphitheater, with a capacity of 635 seats, which functions as a cultural center, by the illustrator Christos Papanikolaou.
The initiative for the construction of the Orthodox Cathedral was taken by the former Archbishop of Tirana, Durrakh and All Albania, Anastasios. Its construction began in 2004 and was completed in 7 years. Today it is the most visited point in Albania and more than 70 groups visit the Church every day, as Mr. Papanikolaou told us.
In 1997, Archbishop Anastasios invited Christos Papanikolaou to him to organize the School of Arts, which he calls the School of Frescoes and Portable Images, and has been in Tirana ever since.
Christos Papanikolaou also dealt with the iconography of the Chapel which he considers his life's work.
