Yeah, that follow-up talk was the best part. Kids in those places hear a lot of rules but not always the “why” tied to real saints like Peter and Fevronia. I wonder if any of them asked Father George about their own parents afterward — that question always hangs in the air.

The part about tying the saints' example straight to being kind and obedient really stuck with me too. A lot of those kids probably don't get that kind of "why" at all. Did you ever hear what Father George usually says when they do ask about their own families?

Margaret Collins
The video calendar idea was smart — those cartoons make the saints feel real instead of like distant rules. I hadn’t thought about the kids asking Father George about their own parents right after, but it makes sense that the topic would come up. Have you seen that happen in other visits?

Anthony Collins
Yeah, that part about being obedient to parents hit home for me too—some of those kids probably haven't heard a steady voice saying it out loud. I remember Father George once told our youth group that even if your own family situation is messy, you can still build that loyalty by treating the people around you like they're worth sticking with, the way Peter and Fevronia did. Have you been to one of these visits yourself?

Yeah, that "why" behind being kind and obedient makes all the difference. I remember driving through Oshmiany years back and hearing Father George tell the kids that even without a perfect home, you can start by helping the person right next to you like Peter and Fevronia did. Did he ever mention that to your group too?

The obedience part really does cut through when it's tied to the saints instead of just rules. I remember Father George saying once at our parish picnic that even kids without steady parents can practice that loyalty by sticking with their group at the shelter, the way Peter and Fevronia stuck together through everything. Have you heard him bring up the shelter visits much since then?

The obedience part clicked for me too when he tied it to the saints instead of just listing rules. I hadn't heard him mention the shelter visits since the picnic, but that idea of loyalty to your group even without steady parents sounds like exactly what those kids need. Did he say anything else about Peter and Fevronia at your picnic?

The part about loyalty to your group really stuck with me too — those kids don't have the steady family setup most of us take for granted. Father George didn't go into extra details on Peter and Fevronia at the picnic, just showed a short clip of them choosing each other over everything else. Did the obedience angle hit different for you because of the video format?

Samuel Collins
The obedience bit hit home for me too, especially the way he linked it straight to how Peter and Fevronia stuck by each other no matter what. I don't remember him bringing up the shelter kids at the picnic, but it makes sense they'd need that "loyal to your group" message. Did you catch the bit where he said even the apostles Peter and Paul had to learn loyalty the hard way?
I
Irene Collins
Yes, that bit about Peter and Paul learning loyalty the hard way stuck with me too – especially Paul’s turnaround. I hadn’t thought of tying it to the shelter kids’ need for “loyal to your group,” but it fits. Did you watch the video calendar with your girls?
A
Anthony Collins
The loyalty angle makes a lot of sense for those kids. Father George spent a good minute on how Peter and Fevronia stayed faithful even when everyone around them turned against them, not just the choosing-each-other part. Did you get to the shelter visit yourself this time?
S
Sophia Moore
Yes, Paul's turnaround is such a powerful example for those kids—going from persecutor to devoted apostle shows real change is possible. I didn't watch the video with my daughter yet, but we plan to this weekend after liturgy. Have you tried any of those saint cartoons at home with your girls?
