The priest told Sakhalin schoolchildren about the role of Orthodoxy in the history of Russiatranslated

Prikhody.ru 10/08/2026. Classes on the basics of Orthodoxy continue in the Cossack class of school No. 24 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk: in one lesson, second-graders went through more than a thousand years of history, and no one got tired, the organizers told the editors of the “Parishes” portal.
There are lessons after which the bell seems too early. This is exactly how the next lesson on “Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture” went, when the head of the missionary department of the Yuzhno-Sakhalin diocese, Archpriest Viktor Gorbach, came to visit the children. Together with him they went on a trip to study the monument “Millennium of Russia”. The monument was erected in Veliky Novgorod, the cradle of Russian statehood, in 1862.
“This monument shows more than a thousand years of history of our country, which is inextricably linked with the Orthodox faith,” the priest noted. The conversation turned out to be lively and serious at the same time. They talked about what the country's thousand-year history means and what role faith played in it. The children formulated the main conclusion of the lesson together with Father Victor: “Preserve traditional culture, the Orthodox faith and take care of the Fatherland.”
