The acceptance of applications and works for participation in the XXII International Children's Art Competition “The Beauty of God's World” has started (regional stage)translated

The international competition of children's creativity “The Beauty of God's World” is being held for the twenty-second time. This year it is dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. The purpose of the competition is spiritual education, moral and patriotic education of the younger generation, introducing young people to Orthodox culture and world culture in general, identifying young talents, as well as creating an environment for creative communication between children and youth of Russia.

The competition is held in two stages in three categories: “Main Theme”, “Orthodox Icon”, “Porcelain Painting”.

The first (regional) stage will take place from September 1 to October 30 of this year.

Children in two age categories can take part in the competition: 9-12 years old and 13-17 years old.

Children's competition works in the “Main Theme” category have the following themes: “We are one family”, “My small Motherland”, “Cultural heritage and traditions of the peoples of Russia”, “Many peoples - one country”, “National Unity Day”.

Children's competition works in the category “Orthodox Icon” can reflect the following topics: Orthodox shrines that patronize and protect the Russian land: the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God,…

Okay, but this year the theme of "The Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia" seems a bit far from what our children are doing here in Craiova. I would have liked to see more themes about Romanian saints or about our churches in Oltenia. However, in the 9-12 years category, "My big little country" sounds nice - some child can also draw the Horezu monastery.

Maria, the topics for "My Little Motherland" and "Cultural Heritage and Traditions of the Peoples of Russia" are quite broad, children can also draw our church "St. George" in Sofia or some local Bulgarian icon. I would advise my granddaughter to try the "Basic Theme" with 9-12 years, instead of waiting for Romanian themes, which do not appear here. And what do you think your child should do?

I think that the theme "My little homeland" is a good opportunity for our children from Tetovo. My daughter in high school can draw the "St. Cyril and Methodius" church here or something from the Vardar fishing, and connect it to "Cultural Heritage". I will ask her if she wants to try in 13-17 years.

Well said, Maria. The theme of the unity of the peoples of Russia really sounds a bit abstract for our children from Craiova. However, for "My big little homeland" I think a drawing with the Horezu Monastery, as you say - or maybe with the landscape on the banks of the Ji River, that many children here know from their walks, would be nice. Are you planning to enroll someone this year?

Yes, "My Little Homeland" is nice that he opens it up to Tetov's children. When my middle son was 14 years old, he drew exactly the fishing along Vardar with the church of St. Cyril and Methodius in the background and it was very natural for him. Will you ask your daughter about the icon in the second nomination?

Yes, exactly, the theme of the unity of the peoples of Russia seems a bit far from what our children see every day. I would enroll an 11-year-old girl from the neighbors, who draws very beautifully; last year he made a landscape with the neighborhood church and it turned out well.
