Cathedral Bishop's Liturgy on the day of the Appearance of the Mother of God on Omsk landtranslated

On September 8, 2026, a solemn celebration took place dedicated to the day of remembrance of the appearance of the Mother of God on Omsk land near the village of Tambovka, Sargat district, which occurred in 1943 and became known as the “Sargat miracle”.

On this day, almost 80 years ago, the Most Holy Theotokos saved the youth Catherine, who later took monastic vows with the name Eugene, from mortal danger. The girl was going from grain harvesting to the village to her parents. She left early in the morning, and had to walk more than 20 kilometers. The girl’s mother was very worried that her daughter would not be attacked by robbers on the way and prayed to the Mother of God. The Queen of Heaven, hearing the woman’s prayer, appeared to the girl Catherine. At the place where the Most Holy Theotokos and the girl met, a Worship Cross was installed, and a chapel was built at the very site of the appearance of the Mother of God.

The Divine Liturgy at the site of the appearance of the Mother of God was led by Bishop Siluan of Kalachin and Muromtsevo, Bishop Vikenty of Tarsk and Tyukalinsk, and they were co-celebrated by the clergy of the Omsk Metropolis.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Dionysius, the cathedral choir also arrived from the regional center and graced the service.
