Saint John of Prislop was celebrated on Sunday at the monastery that gave him his name. The Holy Liturgy was officiated by Vicar Bishop Gherontie Hunedorean of the Diocese of Deva and Hunedoara.

His Eminence emphasized that frequent confession is essential for spiritual cleansing, liberation from the burden of mistakes and the acquisition of inner peace, explaining that repentance does not mean only regret, but a total change in the way of thinking and a return to God.

The hierarch also spoke about the prayer of the heart, which, said as often as possible, in secret and with humility, keeps man in a permanent connection with God.

Saint John of Prislop Originally from the village of Silvașul de Sus, Hunedoara, Ioan left his parental home in his youth and became a monk at the Prislop Monastery.

Wanting to lead an even quieter life, he found a place, about 500 meters from the monastery, on the precipitous bank of the Silvuț (Slivuț) river, where he dug himself a stone cell, known to this day as the "cell" or "saint's house".
