The attack on two merchant ships in the Bulgarian exclusive economic zone is absolutely unacceptable. This is a gross violation of international law and maritime affairs in general. This was stated by Prime Minister Rumen Radev at the beginning of the meeting with representatives of the institutions in connection with the two ships struck by drones in the Bulgarian economic zone in the Black Sea.

During the meeting, Rumen Radev pointed out that Bulgaria is conducting a rescue operation in the country's exclusive economic zone, about 70 nautical miles east of Byala, after two merchant ships were attacked by air and sea drones overnight. One Togolese-flagged vessel has sunk. The Bulgarian ro-ro passenger ship DIOSCURIA, which was in the area, saw the explosion and went to the scene of the accident. The overturned boat, three decks and life jackets have been recovered, but no survivors have been found at this time.
