Romanian Orthodox cathedral in Canada celebrates 108 years of parish life

The Romanian Orthodox community of the Cathedral of St George and St Andrew Șaguna in Windsor, Canada, celebrated the 108th anniversary of the parish’s founding on Sunday, 25 October.
The anniversary was marked by the Divine Liturgy, during which the community offered prayers of thanksgiving to God for the blessings, gifts, and benefits bestowed upon it over the years.
A memorial service was also held for the founding members of the parish and the benefactors who helped establish its place of worship.
“Looking back with gratitude, embracing the present with joy and facing the future with hope, we prayerfully remember our predecessors, who kept the flame of the Orthodox faith and Romanian identity alive far from their homeland,” said Protosyncellus Corneliu Andrașco, the parish priest.
“Their sacrifice and steadfastness call us, in turn, to continue this blessed work, passing on to future generations the treasure of faith, the beauty of our traditions and love for the Church,” the parish priest added.
The celebrations concluded with a fellowship meal, in keeping with the tradition observed on such anniversaries.
