“Rejoice, Virgin, praise to Christians”: the bishops of the Simbirsk Metropolis performed a cathedral service at the shrinetranslated

On October 4, the 18th week after Pentecost, the day of the celebration of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, the discovery of the relics of St. Demetrius of Rostov, a conciliar bishop's service was held in the Ascension Cathedral of the Savior in Ulyanovsk. The Divine Liturgy was performed by Metropolitan of Simbirsk and Novospassky Longin, Bishop of Melekessky and Cherdaklinsky Diodorus, Bishop of Baryshsky and Inzensky Alexander.

These days, in the cathedral there is an ark with part of the Belt of the Most Holy Theotokos and particles of the relics of the holy righteous Godfather Joachim and Anna, parents of the Mother of God, from the Kazan Cathedral of St. Petersburg.

During the service, the archpastors were concelebrated by the secretary of the Simbirsk diocesan administration, Priest Roman Solodko, Archpriest Sergiy Efremov, the secretary of the Bishops' Council, Archpriest Ilya Kuznetsov, Archpriest Andrey Filkin, Hieromonk Tikhon (Kuznetsov), the keymaster of the cathedral, Hieromonk Hilarion (Khrol), Hieromonk Anthony (Zazheko), Priest Valery Stavrovsky, Deacon John Kosyakov, Deacon Grigory Shevchenko. The liturgical hymns were performed by the Mixed Choir of the Ascension Cathedral under the direction of regent Roman Khitev.
