Local proclamation of the canonization of St. Maria Brâncoveanu: Programtranslated

The local proclamation of the canonization of St. Maria Brâncoveanu will take place on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the "St. Gheorghe - Nou" Church in the Capital, where the relics of the Holy Martyrs Brâncovean and of the Holy Lady Maria Brâncoveanu are preserved.

The events will begin in the afternoon of Saturday, August 15, 2026, when, in the historic "St. M. Mc. Gheorghe" Chapel of the Patriarchal Residence, His Beatitude Father Patriarch Daniel will consecrate the reliquary in which the relics of the Holy Lady Maria Brâncoveanu will be placed.

Afterwards, the casket will be transported to the church of the Parish "Sfântul Gheorghe - Nou" in Sector 3 of the Capital, where the liturgical program will take place.

Schedule Saturday, August 15

16:45 - Reception of the reliquary at the "Saint Gheorghe - New" Church; 5:00 p.m. – Vigil Service in honor of the Holy Lady Maria Brâncoveanu (Great Vespers combined with Litany and Matins).

No believer will worship the reliquary or the icon until after the moment of proclamation.

Sunday, August 16

09:00 a.m. - Holy Liturgy at the "Saint George - New" Church, reading of the synodal Tomos of the local proclamation of canonization, presentation of the icon and chanting of the troparion of the saint.
