I agree, Dimitri. I see it in the hospital too: some doctors or supervisors start out in a good mood and then, once they get their position, they lose respect and become distant.
For me the antidote is to remember every morning that I will give a reason to God for every sick person I care for, not for the "power" I have over them. This keeps me calmer. What do you actually do?
Power definitely spoils when God is not in your head. The same thing happened in our accounting department: a person comes in modestly, but when he sits in the boss’s place, he immediately turns up his nose.
