Representatives of the Brest diocese took part in events dedicated to the celebration of Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus in the city of Bresttranslated

On July 3, 2026, the city of Brest hosted festive events dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus. A solemn meeting was held at the memorial complex “Brest Hero Fortress”, in which the leadership of the region and the city, representatives of the diplomatic corps, clergy, the city public, labor collectives, and military personnel of the Brest garrison took part.
The delegation from the Brest diocese of the Belarusian Orthodox Church was headed by Archbishop John of Brest and Kobrin, accompanied by the rector of the garrison church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the Brest Fortress, the chairman of the department of the Brest diocese for interaction with the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus, Archpriest Vitaly Khonovets and the assistant secretary of the Brest diocesan administration, rector Church of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God of Priest Andrei Petrusevich.
Commemorative wreaths were laid at the Eternal Flame on the Ceremonial Square, after which the Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee P. A. Parkhomchik addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. The meeting ended with the passage of troops of the Brest garrison.…
