“Pray for Venezuela” – Bishop of Assos issued message following deadly earthquake

Bishop Timotheos of Assos has appealed to the faithful in Greece and around the world to pray for Venezuela, as the country continues to grapple with the devastating consequences of the recent deadly earthquake .
The Bishop specifically called for prayers for Metropolitan Iakovos of Mexico, Bishop Hesychios of Markiani, and the clergy serving in Venezuela, who remain on the front lines supporting those affected by the disaster.
As he noted, the situation remains extremely difficult, with hundreds of fatalities, widespread destruction, and more than one hundred strong aftershocks further intensifying an already overwhelming atmosphere of fear and uncertainty. The areas of Caracas and La Guaira have been particularly hard hit, where efforts to locate survivors trapped beneath the rubble are still ongoing.
The Bishop also noted that, so far, no injuries have been reported among members of the Greek community in Venezuela. However, many families are facing serious psychological and material hardships as a result of the disaster.
