In autumn 2026, the Orthodox Herald from Veliky Luki, Pskov Region, celebrates its 10th anniversary. The publication is a supplement to the newspaper Velikoluckaya Pravda.
The Orthodox Herald is a joint project of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media, the Veliky Luki Diocese, and the editorial board of Velikoluckaya Pravda.
The idea of creating the Herald was born within the walls of the newly established Veliky Luki Diocese. The diocesan information-analytical department initiated cooperation with the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media, the magazine Foma, and the editorial board of Velikoluckaya Pravda.
The task was simple – to acquaint readers with the life of the Church in an accessible form, to tell about the most relevant general church and diocesan events, and to answer frequently asked questions about Orthodoxy. Thus, the Orthodox Herald should have become a bridge between the Church and society, not didactic but open and friendly.
