Congratulations on Teacher's Daytranslated

October 3, 2026 · 1 min read

I sincerely congratulate teachers on their professional holiday!

The work of a teacher is a special service and a special pedagogical art, because the teacher needs to find an approach to the soul of each child. We all know how difficult this is. You generously share your knowledge and warmth with your students. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this and wish God’s help in your labors!

The essence of the teaching profession, the special skill of a teacher, according to V.A. Sukhomlinsky, in the ability to “plant in a person today those seeds that will sprout in decades.” It is while studying at school that basic knowledge and the most important personality traits are formed - something that will further determine a person’s life. That is why the work of a teacher, mentor, educator was and remains extremely important and necessary.

Dear teachers, I wish you blessed success. May the Lord grant each of you strengthening in faith and spiritual peace. I wish you not to lose interest in your profession and love for children, in order to remain a bright, worthy, authoritative living example for them.

I wish you good health, inexhaustible vitality, all-round well-being, the joy of seeing the good fruits of your labors, love and a grateful response from your students...

Thanks for posting this. The quote from Sukhomlinsky about planting seeds that sprout decades later really stuck with me—my older daughter still talks about her high school math teacher who pushed her to stick with it. Praying for all the teachers at our parish school this week.

Yes, Sukhomlinsky's quote about seeds that sprout after tens of years reminded me of my math teacher at the school in Korça – she would force us to solve difficult exercises tirelessly. Even my son now has such a teacher in the fifth grade, I thank God for them. Good luck on teacher's day!

That Sukhomlinsky line about seeds sprouting decades later is spot on. My youngest son still quotes his grade 10 history teacher from Ottawa who made him write every essay twice until it was clear. Praying the parish school teachers get a quiet cup of tea and some real rest this week.
