October 3, 2026 · 1 min read

The pious memory of the Holy Glorious Hieromartyr Cyprian the Wonderworker and the Holy Glorious Martyr Iustina was celebrated with due splendor in the eponymous Holy Chapel of the Anastasiadei Foundation in Heraklion, Attica. On the eve of the feast, a Holy Wood reception was held and then the Great Solemn Vespers was held, presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Aeneos Mr. Makarios, who even preached the divine word.

Glory to God that Archbishop Gabriel so simply and clearly spoke about the path of Saint Kyriyan the Confessor from magic to faith. I always like how in his sermons it is evident that repentance is not a one-time matter, but a daily choice. Interestingly, I wonder if any special icons of these saints are preserved in that church, for I would like to pray there someday.

Yes, Iryna, I agree - Bishop Gavriil always knows how to talk about repentance without too much beauty. I remembered how he spoke about Cyprian: from sorcery to full service. But I wonder if relics are often brought to the liturgy in that parish church in Heraklion, or only for the liturgy?

Yes, Maxim, I also noticed that Bishop Gavriil talks about Cyprian simply and to the point, without any extraneous. In that church in Heraklion, relics are not taken out every Sunday, but specifically on major holidays and church holidays, like this time with the Holy Tree. Have you been there yourself on duty?

Yes, Oleg, you also paid attention to how Bishop Gavriil talked about Cyprian's transition from magic to faith without high words, simply and clearly. And as for the relics - for sure, they are brought out only on major holidays, such as this time with the Honest Tree. I myself was there for the feast of the throne last year, the impression remained for a long time. Do you go there often?
