Pope mourns Mozambique's Cardinal Langa, who "proclaimed peace"

Pope Leo sends a telegram to Archbishop Chimoio, Apostolic Administrator of Xai-Xai in Mozambique, expressings his spiritual closeness following the death of Cardinal Langa, who devoted himself “with simplicity, zeal and perseverance to the flock entrusted to him, without allowing himself to be discouraged by difficulties.”

Rest in peace. It stuck in my mind how the text says that he was not discouraged by difficulties - that seems to me to be the most valuable thing in a shepherd. May God remember him.

Thanks, Anca, and I stuck with that phrase about weights. It reminds me how my grandfather, who was a cantor at the church, used to say that a good priest is the one who doesn't leave the village when the drought comes. Rest in peace.
