Timișoara firefighters honored their spiritual protector at the Partoș Monasterytranslated

Firefighters from Timiș County gathered on Tuesday at the Partoș Monastery, where they honored Saint Hierarch Iosif cel Nou from Partoș, the spiritual protector of firefighters in Romania.
On the occasion of the memorial day, Timișoara firefighters prayed for protection and help in the missions they carry out, but also to be safe from dangers.
"Today, we thank him for his protection and we ask him to guide our steps, to strengthen us in our missions and to protect us from dangers", the representatives of the Timiș County Emergency Situations Inspectorate sent.
The connection of Saint Hierarch Joseph the New from Partoș with the firefighters is linked to a miracle recorded by church tradition in the year 1653, when a strong fire threatened the old citadel of Timișoara. According to tradition, he prayed before the fire, and God sent rain, the city being saved from the danger of the fire.
September 13 was officially established as "Romanian Firefighters' Day" in 1997 by Government Decision no. 492/1997.
