On October 8, 2026, in the administration of the Makhachkala diocese, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Public Chamber of the Republic of Dagestan and the Makhachkala diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The document was signed by the Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Dagestan Amirkhan Magomedovich Magomeddadayev and Archbishop of Makhachkala and Derbent Varlaam.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Commission for the Harmonization of Interethnic and Interfaith Relations of the OP RD R.A. Lugovoy and member of the Commission, secretary of the Makhachkala diocese, priest Pavel Kalikin.

Welcoming the guests, Archbishop Varlaam noted the role of the Public Chamber in ensuring a constructive dialogue between the state and society and assured that the Makhachkala diocese will continue to actively participate in the life of the republic.

In turn, A.M. Magomeddadayev wished the ruling bishop success in his work and expressed hope for fruitful interaction with all traditional religious communities of Dagestan.
