The translation of the Bible into Russian not only influenced the spiritual life of the people but also the entire national culture, Patriarch Kirill noted.translated

The appearance of the Bible in translation into Russian had a significant impact on the development of the entire national culture, as stated by the Most Holy Patriarch Kirill.
"The appearance of the full text of the Bible in Russian had a tremendous impact on both the spiritual life of the people, who gained the opportunity to read and study the Word of God in accessible form, and on the entire national culture," said the First Hierarch on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Synodal translation of the Bible, which is celebrated in 2026.
The Church leader noted that the culture, which received this unique translation, gave the world "outstanding religious thinkers, without whom it is impossible today to imagine the development of Orthodox theology in the late 19th century and throughout the 20th century."
Patriarch Kirill emphasized that the enlightenment by the light of the Gospel is the key task of the Church at all times.
"Despite certain difficulties that accompanied the publication of the Synodal translation, it undoubtedly became a continuation of the work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, who brought the light of Christ's truth to the Slavic lands," said the Most Holy.
