A monastery was built on the site of the former Găiceni Monastery in Bacău Countytranslated

A wooden troit was placed on the site of the former Găiceni Monastery, near the town of Găiceana, Bacău County, according to a post on the Valea Polocinului Facebook page.

The building was consecrated at the end of last week by Father Mihăiță Iftenie, from Fundoia Parish.

The action was initiated by two locals from Găiceana and carried out with the help of the parish priest from Fundoaia.

The location of the troit was not chosen at random, the initiators respecting the status of the area as an archaeological site.

At the consecration service, the founders of the monastic settlement and all those who helped the monastery over time were mentioned.

Gaiceni Monastery The monastic settlement was located on the territory of the village of Găiceana, Bacău county, also known as Găicenu.

The first mention of the monastery dates back to 1525, when the ruler of Moldavia, Ştefăniţă Vodă, gave the village of Găiceni with the monastery to Pan Bogdan.

The place of worship is also known as the Buzdugan Monastery. Most probably, the monastery dates before 1525.
