Jordan: Government initiatives for the 2000th anniversary of the Baptism of Christtranslated

The government's initiatives to celebrate the 2000th anniversary of the Baptism of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Jordan River - which will be celebrated in 2030 - were presented by the Prime Minister of Jordan, Ja'far Hassan, during a meeting. The Prime Minister of Jordan informed that competent committees will be created to guide and prepare the anniversary program.
Also, information on the progress of the works at the place of the Baptism of Christ. The completion of 2000 years since the Baptism of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Jordan River, in 2030, is not an ephemeral anniversary or a short-day celebration, but a world-wide ecclesiastical, spiritual and historical event and, at the same time, a message from Jordan to the whole world.
Among other things, the Jordanian Prime Minister referred to the need to promote religious tourism abroad that will bring Jordan closer to other Christian churches.
The meeting was attended by a representative of the Archdiocese of Kyriakoupolis, as well as representatives of other Christian denominations.
