Patriarch Daniel at the proclamation of the Council of the Holy Military Martyrs: The Army and the Church share common valuestranslated

His Beatitude Father Daniel, the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, participated on Monday in the proclamation of the celebration of the Council of the Holy Military Martyrs, from the outer Altar of the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest.
On this occasion, His Beatitude emphasized the connection that has existed for centuries between the Church and the Army.
"Holy Military Martyrs, some simple soldiers, others high-ranking officers, in their time, prove over the centuries, through the example of their lives, that the Army and the Church share common values: the courage to confess the right faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the love for the neighbor, the country and the nation, the spirit of sacrifice or sacrifice until death".
In this sense, Father Patriarch Daniel recalled that the first patron of the National Cathedral is the Ascension of the Lord or Heroes' Day, together with that of Saint Andrew the Apostle, "as a symbol of this connection between sacrificial love and apostolic faith".
The proclamation of the feast of the Council of the Holy Military Martyrs took place during the Holy Liturgy in honor of St. M. Mc. Demetrius, the Fountain of Mir, considered the initiator of this council.
