Patriarch Daniel: The cross unites us with Christ, the One who transforms pain into joytranslated

"He unites us with Christ who transforms pain into joy, suffering into hope, loneliness into communion and helplessness into spiritual victory", emphasized Sunday the Blessed Father Patriarch Daniel about the Holy Cross, at the historical Chapel "Saint Great Martyr Gheorghe" in the Patriarchal Residence.

Starting from the Savior's call to take up the cross, His Beatitude showed that Christ invites people to the "way of salvation" freely, by denying himself and taking up his own cross.

"God wants man to answer the call to salvation freely because salvation means love for God and for neighbor."

The Patriarch of Romania explained that self-denial does not mean the annulment of the person, but "the liberation of the soul from obsessive egocentrism in order to receive in return the merciful or giving love of Christ in order to transmit this love to his fellow men".

"By renouncing the selfish self, man opens himself up to communion with God and his fellow men, so that the life of the merciful Christ becomes the life of man according to the testimonies of the Holy Apostle Paul who says that I no longer live, but Christ lives in me."
