Patriarch Kirill: Russia is undergoing tests on which its future dependstranslated

Russians, during a period of difficult trials on which the future of their historical Fatherland may depend, especially need spiritual support. According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' during a sermon in the Assumption Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church celebrated the Divine Liturgy there on the occasion of the feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.

The Patriarch drew attention to the events taking place, calling them a serious test for all of Rus'. “Now there is truly internecine warfare on Russian land, terrible trials for all of Rus', trials on which the future of our entire historical Fatherland may largely depend,” he said. In the current circumstances, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church emphasized the special need for spiritual help and patronage of the Most Holy Theotokos.

During the service, Kirill also reminded that the miraculous Kazan Icon of the Mother of God is again next to the believers.
