Patriarch of Serbia met Science Minister Bela Balint in Belgrade

Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia met today, September 9, 2026, with Dr. Bela Balint, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Government of Serbia, at the Patriarchal Palace in Belgrade.

During their cordial and constructive meeting, the two sides expressed their readiness to cooperate on enhancing the quality and efficiency of higher education in Serbia. They also stressed the need to implement a series of joint programs and projects that could provide an expert basis for the formulation and implementation of higher education policy.

The meeting was attended by Metropolitan Irinej of Bačka, a member of the Holy Synod of Bishops; Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Vladimir Vukašinović, professor at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Belgrade; Prof. Dr. Nebojša Zdravković, Director of the National Entity for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education; Dr. Stefan Milojević, Head of the Director’s Office and Assistant Director; Mr. Sava Stambolić, Chief of Staff to the Minister; Dr. Ivica Đalović, Special Adviser to the Minister; and Ms. Milica Stijačić of the Ministry’s Public Relations Service.
