Patriarch of Serbia in Australia: Where there is love, there is our home

Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia received a warm welcome from the Serbian Orthodox community at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Brunswick, Melbourne, during his visit to Australia, emphasizing the importance of faith, love and unity in preserving the spiritual identity of Serbs living abroad.
Addressing the faithful gathered for a solemn doxology, Patriarch Porfirije expressed his gratitude for being welcomed with “open hearts and open arms.”
“Where there is love, there is everything; there is our home, regardless of whether this is geographically true,” the Serbian Patriarch declared.
He explained that wherever Christ is present, believers find their true homeland, even when they live thousands of kilometers away from their country of origin.
“Where He is, there is our homeland,” he said, emphasizing that the Kingdom of God transcends geographical boundaries.
The Patriarch also recalled his longstanding personal connection with Metropolitan Siluan of Australia and New Zealand, whom he first met in Athens in 1988, when the future Metropolitan was just eight years old.
