This academic year, new rules for teaching schoolchildren at home have come into effect in Moldova. The instruction came into force on August 1, 2026 and applies to children who, due to health problems or disabilities, are temporarily unable to attend school. The registration procedure, requirements for some documents, the deadline for approving the schedule, the rules for online classes and the accounting of lessons have changed. We tell you who is entitled to such training and what parents need to do.

What is homeschooling

Homeschooling is a form of schooling for a child who is temporarily unable to attend school for medical reasons.

Such training can be organized for students of primary schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, as well as special education institutions for children with special educational needs.

The child remains a student at his school. The school appoints teachers, draws up a schedule, organizes classes and monitors how he masters the program.

The main goal is for the child not to interrupt his studies due to health conditions, to be able to complete the school curriculum and to maintain contact with the school. The methods and pace of training must take into account his state of health,…
