Bishop Savva of Armavir was elected as the new vicar of the Trinity-Sergius Lavratranslated

Bishop Savva of Armavir and Labinsk was elected as the new vicar of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad near Moscow.
This decision was made by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church at its meeting on October 22, 2026 (journal No. 70).
“The Bishop of Armavir and Labinsk, Savva, will be the vicar of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra with the title “Zaraisky”, releasing him from the administration of the Armavir diocese and expressing gratitude for the labors incurred,” says the resolution of the Synod.
In turn, the former vicar of the Lavra, Bishop Kirill of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov, was relieved of his post as vicar “with an expression of gratitude for the labors incurred.” At the same time, Bishop Kirill retained control of the Sergiev Posad diocese and the position of rector of the Moscow Theological Academy.
The Synod also decided to elect the clergyman of the Yeisk diocese, Hieromonk Vasily (Telekhov), as His Eminence of Armavir and Labinsk. The place of the naming and consecration of Father Vasily as a bishop, upon his elevation to the rank of archimandrite, is left to the discretion of Patriarch Kirill.
