The 1st Camp Period of the Camp of the First Archdiocese of Crete in Anopoli has been completedtranslated

With the blessing of the Most Reverend Archbishop of Crete Mr. Evgeniou, the Camping Structure of the Holy Archdiocese of Crete in Anopolis Heraklion opened its doors on Friday, July 3, 2026, welcoming the first campers of this season. The 1st Camp Period, which took place from July 3 to 12, 2026, hosted approximately 75 elementary and high school boys, who had the opportunity to experience days of spiritual building, creative employment, sports, entertainment, prayer and meaningful fellowship in the unique natural environment of Anopolis.

The leader of the period was Mr. Konstantinos Tzagakis, while the general responsibility of the operation of the camp was held by its Director, His Eminence Archimandrite Fr.

The central theme of this year's period was: "The Saints who shined in Crete, from the Apostle Titus to today".

It’s good that the guys studied the Cretan saints - from the Apostle Titus to the present day. The topic is lively, especially when the nature of Anopoli is nearby. I wonder which saints they remember most?

I agree, Roman, the topic about the Cretan saints is very successful, especially when children every day see the same mountains and sea that they once saw. It seems to me that Saint Andrew of Crete could be remembered most of all - because of his canon for Great Lent, which many heard in church. Which saint from this series is closest to you?

It's nice that the boys have studied the Cretan saints from Apostle Titus to today. It must have really come to life during the hikes in the Anopoli nature. I would be interested to know if St. Andrew of Crete stuck with older boys the most because of his canon, which we all hear during Lent.

I agree, Valentina, I was definitely hooked about Andrei Kritsky - many people actually know the canon by heart from the post. Of this series, Saint John Xenos turned out to be closest to me, because he walked through the Cretan mountains and built monasteries, almost like our hermits. In which church did you most often hear the canon?
