Porphyry of Serbia: True peace begins when we recognize our brother as a neighbortranslated

"The changes taking place in the world will be blessed by God if they try to satisfy the primary and basic needs of every human being on earth: the need for truth, for peace, for trust and for fellowship with fellow man." This was underlined, among others, by the Patriarch of Serbia, Mr. Porfirios in his greeting to the participants of the international conference "Partners in a Changing World: Central and Eastern Europe, America, Israel and the New Middle East", which took place on July 15, 2026 in Belgrade, under the auspices of the Serbian-American Friendship Conference. The Primate of the Serbian Church was represented by the Most Reverend Bishop Liplian Mr. Dositheos, who read the greeting.

Thanks for sharing. I especially remember how the Patriarch said that real peace begins when we see our neighbor in a brother. This is the simplest and most difficult thing at the same time.

Yes, the saying that true peace begins when we see our neighbor in our brother is really simple and difficult at the same time. A person realizes this especially when he has an argument with someone about a little thing in the garden or in church. I hope that the many changes that the patriarch talks about will at least help us to have more confidence.

I agree with what Patriarch Porphyry says - true peace begins with seeing one's neighbor in one's brother. In our town in Hajnówka, sometimes at a parish meeting we argue about trivial things, and then you remember these words and feel stupid. Thank you for the article.
