The Ephesian Icon of Our Lady of Odigetria was celebrated in Agios Georgios Myrodatos, Xanthitranslated

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the Synod of the Ephesian Icon of Our Lady of Odegetria, which adorns the Holy Church of Agios Georgios Myrodatos, was celebrated with ecclesiastical splendor. The Divine Liturgy was presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Xanthi and Peritheori, Mr. Panteleimon, with the participation of believers who came to honor the Virgin Mary.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Holiness honored Fr. Ioannis Papadopoulos, awarding him the office of Steward with the service of the knee.

The holy icon was enthroned in the church in 2025, after the blessing of Elder Evdokimos, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint Savvas in Jerusalem, who sent it to the church of the village where he was born and raised, in order to be a point of reference for residents and pilgrims.
