Ioannina: Vigil of Saint Euphemia before the relics of Saint Arseniostranslated

On the evening of Friday, July 11, 2026, the eve of the feast of Saint Glorious Great Martyr and Glorious Euphemia, a day on which our Holy Church celebrates the miracle of the Saint during the 4th Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon, a solemn Holy Vigil was held in the celebratory Church of Saint Paisios of Saint Caiaphas Ioannina. The Holy Vigil was held in front of the Holy Relics of our Holy and God-bearing Father Arsenius of Cappadocia, which are hosted in the Holy Church as part of the religious events in honor of Saint Paisios the Saint, giving a special spiritual blessing to the holy services.

During the Vigil, the Great Vespers of Saint Euphemia was held, after the Prayer Canon to Saint Paisios the Saint, while the Orthros and the High Priestly Divine Liturgy followed, presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Ioannina, etc. Maximus.

Thanks for this story. I especially wonder what the mood was like on Agripnia when the relics of St. Arsenia were standing there - I have no idea how calm it must be.

Thanks for the news. I was particularly impressed that the relics of St. Arsenius were right there during the all-night vigil for St. Euphemia - it must have been very powerful to stand in prayer in front of them while they sang the canon of St. Paisius. I wonder if people felt any particular silence or not, as Salome writes.
