Corfu Nektarios: The Greek State should help the education of the placetranslated

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios, consecrated the opening of the Innovation Center of the Regional Directorate of Education of the Ionian Islands, opposite the Archaeological Museum of Corfu, at noon on Thursday, July 16, 2026. The consecration and the opening were also attended by the Minister of Education, of Religion and Sports Ms. Sofia Zaharaki. Addressing the Minister, Mr. Nektarios emphasized that it is beautiful that there is creativity in the new generation, that children can combine technological progress with fruitful learning, but what is needed is that technology does not abolish the human face. "It may not be easy for us elders," said Mr. Nektarios, "to understand all the dimensions of technological progress, but this does not mean that we are not happy that children have the opportunity to participate in this new world."

He particularly thanked Mrs. Zacharakis for her love for the Church and for coming to Corfu to inaugurate the new camps of the local Church, and wished the Greek state to help the education of the place. THE…

It’s good that Bishop Nektariy said directly: technology should not replace the human face. This is the main thing. And sometimes it seems that in these innovation centers they completely forget about the soul.

It's good he said that straight out — tech shouldn't erase the human face. Our youth group was talking about the same thing last week, how easy it is for kids to get lost in screens and forget the person right in front of them. Glad the Minister came and that the Church is involved.
