Thessaloniki: Extension of the operating hours of the White Tower until 21:00 dailytranslated

The Museum of Byzantine Culture informs the public that for the first time the opening hours of the White Tower are being extended until 21:00 every day from August 8 until November 1, 2026. As mentioned in the relevant announcement, the extension of the opening hours offers the residents and visitors of Thessaloniki the opportunity to see the emblematic monument of the city and its permanent exhibition during the afternoon hours as well.

The visit ends at the top of the White Tower, in the most characteristic location of Thessaloniki, from where visitors to the monument can enjoy the evening and sunset, with a panoramic view of Thermaikos, the beach and the city skyline.

That's a smart move. I've always wanted to catch the sunset from the top of the White Tower but it always closed too early. Nice that they'll keep it open until 9 now through next year. Might have to plan a trip down there one of these evenings.

It would be nice, but by 21:00 in November the sun sets much earlier. However, it's good that they extended the program, maybe I'll catch a sunset on the terrace next summer if I get to Thessaloniki.

Yes, you are right, in November the sun rises much earlier, around 17:00-17:30. However, next summer it would be ideal to catch a sunset from the terrace, especially now that they have extended until 9pm. Have you been to Thessaloniki before?

Yes, you are right, in November the sunset comes early and the terrace would be a bit dark. I climbed once in July and caught a red sun over Thermaic that stuck in my mind. Are you planning to come next summer with the girls?

I've never been to the White Tower, but last summer I caught a beautiful sunset from the bank of Mureș, with a red sky like the one you saw. Are you planning to go back to Thessaloniki with the girls next summer?
