The cultural heritage unites young people through the action of the Metropolis of Kitroutranslated

The Holy Metropolis of Kitros, Katerinis and Platamonos, through its Spiritual Center "Agios Photios", continues its dynamic active participation in the European Erasmus+ programs for the Youth sector, confirming its extroverted orientation and its practical support for young people. As part of the action of the Holy Metropolis entitled "Educational Archeology and Digital Cultural Heritage", thirty young people from Poland, Serbia and Romania are being hosted these days in Pieria, participating in actions that promote the acquaintance with the history, culture and tradition of the place, while at the same time strengthening intercultural dialogue and cooperation between the peoples.

The participants visited, on Thursday, July 2, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kitros, Katerinis and Platamonos Mr. George at the Metropolitan Palace. The Metropolitan welcomed them with great joy, welcomed them to Pieria and referred to the importance of getting to know different countries, cultures and traditions, as a bridge of peace, mutual understanding and mutual respect.

Nice to see the kids from Poland, Serbia, and Romania getting a proper tour of the ecclesiastical museum and meeting Metropolitan George. Sounds like a solid way to connect through real history instead of just screens. Hope they left with a clearer sense of what Orthodox tradition actually looks like up close.

They are doing well and bringing the children from Poland, Serbia and Romania to visit the Ecclesiastical Museum and talk to the Patriarch George. Instead of staying only on mobile phones, let's learn from our gift. I hope that they will be left with something meaningful from Πιερία.

Yeah, that visit to the museum after meeting Metropolitan George probably stuck with them more than any app could. My grandson went on one of these exchanges last year and came back talking nonstop about the icons he saw up close in Pieria. Real faces, real history beats pixels every time.

I totally agree, Lela. Yesterday I was also near the museum and saw those young people who were listening attentively to Metropolitan Giorgi. More than mobiles, such live meetings remain in the memory.

That's great to hear about your grandson. My cousin from the youth group here did a similar Erasmus trip last summer and wouldn't stop showing us photos of those same icons up close. Nothing beats standing there and seeing the real thing instead of just scrolling past it on a screen.
