July 3, 2026 · 1 min read

Yesterday, Thursday, July 2, 2026, the Catholic Patriarch met with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Georgia, Petr Kubernat. Zion III at the headquarters of the Patriarchate in Tbilisi.  The Czech diplomat wished the Primate of the Orthodox Church in Georgia for his election, thanking him at the same time for the reception.

During their conversation, they mentioned the blessed Patriarch Ilias II, talked about Czech-Georgian relations, the importance of values and traditions and, in general, about human relations.

The Ambassador spoke about the cultural, educational, economic and other programs implemented in Georgia with the support of the Czech Republic, while also expressing his support for Georgian territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The meeting ended with the exchange of souvenirs.

How joyful it is that Patriarch Zion and the Ambassador of the Czech Republic commemorate Father Elijah V! I am always glad to hear about such meetings where spiritual traditions are valued rather than politics.

Thank you, Anna, for reminding us of Father Elijah V. In our church on the Intercession, we often remembered his wise words - remember as you remembered.

In our church on the Intercession, they also commemorate Father Elijah V. Just yesterday in the canon they remembered his words about patience in troubles - just so as not to forget that the Lord is with us even in hardships.

I agree, remembering Ilya II in such conversations is a good sign. Only the ambassador nevertheless emphasized support for the territorial integrity of Georgia, so politics was also present there, just in a polite form. Do you often follow the meetings of the Patriarch of Zion?
